Our laboratories
We have the leading chemical technologies for our industries, thanks to our expertise in specialty chemicals and the innovative solutions at our disposal.
Over the years, the group has developed chemical synthesis processes for high-quality products using environmentally friendly technologies and energy-efficient processes.
In ERCA Group, the interactions between the quality control laboratory, analytical laboratory and research and development (R&D) are fundamental to ensure both innovation and the safety and efficacy of chemical products, minimizing environmental impact and promoting sustainability.
In addition, application laboratories play a crucial role, acting as a bridge between the research and development of products and their practical application in different application contexts.
With this business model, we guarantee maximum efficiency in terms of products and costs and maximum sustainability of products and production processes.
Quality Control (QC) Laboratory

Quality control laboratories are responsible for controlling the physical and chemical characteristics of products at every stage of the life cycle, from incoming materials to production, and finally to the finished product.
- They define quality standards, monitoring and verifying compliance at all stages of production;
- They collaborate with Research and Development to ensure product quality and with the instrumental analytical laboratory to ensure the effectiveness and accuracy of the methods used;
- They perform critical analyses on products and ensure that analytical data is accurate and relevant.
- They provide constant feedback to R&D on product quality throughout the development process, contributing to the optimization of the final product and processes.
Research and Development (R&D)

The group’s Research and Development laboratories work on innovative and sustainable products based on renewable raw materials optimizing existing products with this philosophy.
In collaboration with the sales team, the R&D department strives to anticipate customer and market needs by synthesizing and formulating high-performance chemical products through the following phases:
- Acquires specifications and performance targets and defines the necessary requirements for raw materials and intermediates, along with process conditions;
- Analyzes and verifies raw materials from both a regulatory and performance perspective, with particular attention to hazards and the choice of sustainable or recycled raw materials;
- Determines the factors that enable sustainable and competitive production;
- Verifies application performance through collaboration with application laboratories and monitors the project until the product is approved by the customer;
- Conducts pilot tests using ethoxylation and propoxylation pilot plants to evaluate the feasibility of new formulations or processes, working in collaboration with the analytical laboratory to monitor sample quality.
Through close collaboration with production, R&D laboratory ensures that products comply with all regulations regarding hazardous chemicals and guides scale-up to industrial level.
It Works to optimize existing manufacturing processes, using feedback from the analytical lab and quality control to improve product performance
Analytical - instrumental laboratory

The analytical laboratory ensures that all analytical methods used by the laboratories with which it collaborates are consistently validated and reviewed.
Thanks to the presence of instruments such as gas chromatographs with FID and MS detectors, HPLC with refractive index detectors, particle size analyzers, and IR spectrometers.
It plays a key role in the development of production methods and the analytical characterization of products;
- It supports continuous production monitoring, in collaboration with the quality control laboratory, analyzing samples to ensure that the analyses performed are under control;
- It collaborates with R&D to develop new analytical methodologies and with QC to optimize quality control analytical times.
- It provides the necessary data for quality control to verify that products comply with regulations. Continuous interaction ensures that there are no deviations from quality control.
- When new analytical methods or new formulations are developed, the analytical laboratory ensures that the method is translated into an accurate method.
- It also supports the sales department in analyzing market products to verify customer requirements.
- Characterization of the products in the portfolio.
Application laboratories

The various group companies also invest in specialized applications laboratories that test and evaluate the performance of chemical products under conditions that simulate the application environment.
The primary goal is to provide customers with precise guidance on the optimal use of products and the most effective application methods for their specific needs.
Application laboratories play a crucial role, acting as a bridge between research and the market and the application of the products themselves in the industrial context through:
- Performance testing
- Development and optimization of application methodologies
- Technical consulting for customers
- Collaboration on the formulation and development of new products
- Safe use and product quality
We also collaborate closely with qualified external laboratories and academic institutions to gain a comprehensive understanding of issues not necessarily related to the industrial process.
